The Galapagos Waved Albatross

One of the most exotic and unique birds in the world is the Waved Albatross who lives on and around the the Galápagos Archipelago (Islands). These beautiful birds are between 34 and 35 inches in length, weigh around 7.5 pounds, and have an incredible wingspan of  around 7 and 1/2 feet.

The Waved Albatross uses dynamic soaring to fly and they are well known for the ability to soar for hours without stopping (no doubt thanks to their large wings and slender bodies).

It is one of my dreams to see a Waved Albatross in person, and perhaps one day, I will.
